The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on July 12.
Wadena County DAC
Rose Bakke, executive director of the Wadena County DAC, is asking for donations for site repair. The DAC has been around since 1975. When fully staffed, they employ 24 individuals, and currently serve 33 individuals from around the area.
The budget planned in November estimated over $800,000 in revenue, and they are close to that. Their average income from employees is over $67,000. They pay over $81,000 per month for expenditures. Building expenses are over $57,000 monthly. They also paid insurance for laid-off employees during the pandemic.
The roof in the Verndale building is going to cost over $17,700 to repair. Between their sites, they have five furnaces that are over 20 years old that need to be replaced, those run approximately $7000 each. There is also over $5000 in damage from a leaky roof. They are looking to replace doors, update floors and update phone systems. Maintenance on the old freezers is costly and they also need to be replaced which would cost around $35,000. . .
