Wadena County Commissioners: Monson and Henriksen recognized for service to county

The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on December 20.
Final Levy and Budget
A correction to the final levy and budget was discovered by Commissioner Murlyn Kreklau. Their intention was to take $28,000 out of cash for the fair, and the change was not made.
Auditor/Treasurer Heather Olson discovered after the creation of the fund for the Sheriff’s Department, a credit for county program aid was not given, and was corrected, now showing a $5040 decrease from last year’s budget.
The new final levy is at $10,111,216 or a 2.85 percent increase from last year.
The new levy was approved.
Staples ARPA Request
The city of Staples applied for the ARPA grant for the amount of $135,250 for preliminary engineering work for water and sewer lines for housing development. Olson said that this does not fall into the scope of what the county would like to use the funds for and she does not see this as an allowable expense. . .
