Wadena County Commissioners: Opioid Committee focuses on distribution of settlement funds, Dittberner retires after 33 years of service

The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 10.

Opioid Hearing

Sara Ness, Public Health, discussed the purpose of the Opioid Committee is to advise the commissioners on how to most effectively, and equitably allocate opioid settlement dollars.

In August of 2021, a $26 billion multi-state settlement agreement created these funds. The purpose of the funds is to save lives, use evidence to guide your spending, invest in youth prevention, and focus on racial equity. One of the key categories that they’re focusing on is prevention, including appropriate prescribing and dispensing of opioid treatment.
