The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on May 17.
4-H Update
Kim Dailey gave a 4-H update. They have a new intern this summer, Ally Rathcke. She will be doing as much 4-H programming as possible.
There are 259 members enrolled in 4-H this year, with 57 first-time members, and 27 from a new club in Staples.
They held STEM camps, donated holiday meals to families, and were one of the counties to have an in-person showcase last year.
She accredited her volunteers that help make this possible.
They are ensuring their youth’s basic needs are met with physiological, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem, and self-actualization. They help the youth find their spark.
The clubs provide community service from donating boots, collecting items for the food shelf, planting flowers, and much more.
The Change Makers Academy, pilot program, had one participant from Wadena County and the Horsagers made a donation for the student to participate. . .
