Wagner claims silver at Rumble

by Coach Michael Arvidson

The BHVPP ladies blew the whistle on the New Year with the Rumble on the Red tournament at the Fargodome last Thursday and Friday.

Day one saw 491 girls toe the line in thirteen weight classes. The Raiders had five of those entries.

The opening round went well as the team posted a 2-0 record with Elora Wagner and Madi Deroscher picking up falls.

Round two saw a 3-2 mark as Autumn Dobratz, Wagner, and Madi Snyder secured pins while Norah Froslee and Deroscher fell to the wrestle-backs.

Round three on the winner’s side saw Dobratz and Snyder go down in defeat.

Wagner made the most of her quarterfinal bout with a major decision to secure her spot on the podium and in the Semifinals on Friday.

In the consolation bracket on Thursday evening, Froslee and Deroscher bowed out while Dobratz and Snyder picked up pins.

Dobratz went down by technical fall in the next round and Snyder kept plugging away with another fall.

In the final round of the evening, Snyder grabbed another fall to stay alive and move onto day two.

Snyder came out early Friday morning and went down by fall in the third period after having a back-and-forth match to leave Wagner as the lone Raiders wrestler for the remainder of the day.

Wagner got to work late in the first period of her semifinal match before pouring in on in the top position and securing a third period pin to move onto the championship bout....
