Weather whiplash: making sense of the unusual winter

The spring-like temps and lack of snow have many questioning what is causing this unusual winter weather we have been experiencing.
Meteorologist Ryan Dunleavy of the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities provided some insight into the strange weather.
The main culprit is El Niño. Warmer weather patterns are created by the warm ocean temperatures of the tropical Pacific Ocean, particularly off the coast of Peru and Chile in South America, which follows the southern Equatorial Current....
