Weekend crashes—one fatal, one alcohol-related
On Sunday, November 10, at approximately 3 a.m., the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received an automated crash alert on County Road 139, outside of Nimrod. A deputy arrived on the scene a short time later and located a crash scene with one person ejected from the vehicle. First aid care was immediately provided to the individual until the Sebeka Fire & Rescue and Astera Ambulance arrived to take over care.
Through investigation, it appeared the vehicle entered the west ditch of County Road 139 when it over-corrected back onto the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times before coming to a rest in the east ditch.
EMS transported the driver, Izaah Kruft, 19, of Platte, SD, to Lakewood Health System in Staples. Kruft was then transported by EMS ground to CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud, where he later died from his injuries. Medical helicopters could not fly at the time due to heavy fog in the area....
