Becoming an officer was always a dream for new Verndale Police Officer and School Resource Officer Tyler Savaloja. He has been on the job since August and is settling into his new routine.
The Wadena native graduated from Wadena-Deer Creek School in 2009 and went into construction. He has resided in Farmington the past five years with his wife Karli and one and a half year old daughter Lillian.

Karli, a Farmington native, is an ag teacher and remains in Farmington with Lillian to finish out the school year. They will join Savaloja here over the summer.
“When I was younger I always wanted to be a conservation officer or some type of law enforcement,” said Savaloja.
He originally went to school for heavy equipment and was making good money, so he decided not to go back to school. Savaloja was feeling burnt out on construction and decided to pursue his dream of law enforcement. . . .
