The Todd County Dairy Princesses crowning ceremony was held on January 11 at the Clarissa Ballroom.
The day started with judging, where the girls had to go through personal interviews, mock media interviews, and prepare speeches. The banquet was held at the Clarissa Ballroom and hosted about 90 people, but the weather kept some attendees away.
Princess Coordinator Amanda Zigan explained that the Todd County Dairy Princess Program aims to teach young women public speaking skills and promote the dairy industry. Todd County is the second highest county in the state for dairy farms.
The day was filled with judging to earn their princess titles. Al Bailey conducted personal interviews and a mock interview for the girls to learn public speaking and answer difficult questions.
Two princesses, Alexis Weste, and Haylie Wielenberg, were crowned after scoring nearly 100% in judging; 90% or more was needed to qualify for the crown.
The program includes seven participants—two princesses and five junior ambassadors—who are required to have a connection to dairy farming....
