The Bertha-Hewitt School closed its doors on December 6 and 7 due to high absences from illness.
On Monday, December 5, the school had 129 students out, over 24 percent of their student population.
The Minnesota Department of Health requires the school district to have a plan should five percent or more of the student population be out due to illness.
December 6 and 7 were E-learning days. K-6 students were sent home with homework and 7-12 grades brought home their devices.
The school also closed the Little Cubs Hangout.
The basketball programs canceled practice and games on those two days due to the illness.
During the closure, the school’s custodians cleaned and sanitized the school.
