Winkels focuses on growth, efficiency and community as commissioner of District 2

With a strong background in community service and a passion for public leadership, longtime Wadena County resident Brian Winkels has stepped into his new role as District 2 Commissioner.
From years serving on the Staples-Motley School Board to chairing local organizations, Winkels has dedicated himself to making a difference. Now, as commissioner, he is eager to tackle challenges, while ensuring that county decisions benefit all residents.
He has a background in community service. He was chair four of the twelve years he served on the Staples-Motley School Board. He also was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish Council and the Sacred Heart School Advisory Board.
Winkels has been on the board of Staples-Motley Dollars for Scholars since 2010 and has served as its chair for many years. The completely volunteer board gave out $118,000 to graduates last year and is working to do more.
