Work continues to make Nelson Park more accessible

A dream...

There is a steadfast group of dreamers in Eagle Bend. Actually, there are several, but the one we are talking about today is the group with a dream to build a splash pad at Nelson Park.

This group has been raising money for this cause for a while now.

Earlier, they were denied a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) grant because the park was not as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant as the DNR wanted to see in giving out this sort of grant.

To help become more ADA accessible, the group took one of the grants they had received that needed to be used by September 20, 2024 and were able to purchase mats for the swing set area along with wood chips.

The grant was for $5000.

They had talked with the developer for their splash pad on what they could purchase that would be approved.

The goal of all parks is to get the very expensive rubberized matting to be put under items....
