Youth Group hits $5000 goal to fight human trafficking

by Trinity Gruenberg

There were cheers of excitement as the Youth Group at the Verndale Family Life Church found out on December 16 they had exceeded their fundraising goal for their Speed the Light missionary.

This was the first time the Youth Group had met in person in six months. After the group made a few wrong guesses, the amount of $5008.49 flashed on the projector screen and confetti cannons were shot in celebration of achieving their goal of $5000.

The Youth Group had chosen to support their local missionary, Caleb Monson, with F.R.E.E. International to help fight human trafficking.

“We chose him because it was someone close and he was able to come to our church. It was more of a personal connection because he could explain what was going on,” shared Elsie Anderson, Youth Group member.

“We realized it was a big problem and it’s in our area and around the world. We wanted to try and help out with it,” said Brooke Self, another Youth Group member. . .
