The board, after much heated debate amongst themselves and presentations by members of the hockey association, parents, supporters and those who had some opposition to taxpayers footing the bill for a sport, approved the Long Prairie Hockey Association to continue using the Expo building. The vote was 3-2 with Commissioners David Kircher, Rod Erickson and Gary Kneisl voting for and Commissioners Barb Becker and Randy Neumann voting against.
Neumann had offered an alternative to making a decision today by putting the decision about the hockey association continuing to use the Expo building on the 2020 ballot and letting the taxpayers decide. In the meantime, the hockey association could continue to use the building. . . .
