The trial for Tyler Slagerman, that was supposed to begin on Tuesday, February 13 has been cancelled. Attorneys have decided to hold a plea hearing instead of the trial on Tuesday.

    Slagerman was charged with second degree unintentional manslaughter in the February, 25, 2017 death of Lacey Kuschel in rural Clarissa.

    Slagerman returned home after a night of drinking with friends when he claimed to grab a 30-30 lever action rifle because he believed there were coyotes outside. Slagerman claimed the rifle accidentally discharged, hitting Kuschel in the back and killing her.
