Tubandt to enter Golden Gloves Hall of Fame
With a career that spanned nearly 60 years, Wadena Golden Gloves Coach Bob Tubandt will be recognized next spring with his induction into the national Golden Gloves Hall of Fame. Tubandt started boxing in 1959, compiling a record of 47 wins in 55 bouts. He claimed five regional championships as a boxer.
After being inside the ring as an athlete, he took over coaching responsibilities of the Wadena club in 1969. In 2016, after 51 years of active coaching he retired, but remains involved with boxing as the Region IV Director for the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves organization. He was named Upper Midwest “Coach of the Year” in 1985 and in 2010.
