The Verndale School Board held their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 6, delayed a day due to the snow storm. Board Member Scott Veronen was absent. The meeting lasted just over an hour.
Dean of Students,
other positions
Discussed the dean of students position to assist with student management issues and High Reliability Schools.
Discussed activities director, which could be part of the dean of students or principal. There are also several good candidates in the building for activities director.
Other positions discussed were art, English Language (EL), REACH. The finance committee will review the options.
“We know we can get one extra hour for art,” said Superintendent Paul Brownlow.
They currently have three hours for art with teacher Maria Ervasti. She informed the school board if they go with one more hour, she recommended that it would be for high school, a more in depth class for those who want it. They are looking into options for more hours. Art Man, Lyle Hearldson, will be done at the end of the year so they are looking for art time in the elementary. Brownlow would like to see more literary arts, possibly a set design class. . . .
