Wannacry makes users want to cry
Another unprecedented cyber attack struck over 230,000 computers in over 150 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, Taiwan, France and Japan. The attack began on Friday, May 12 and infected computers with ransomware called WannaCry. It is also called WannaCrypt, WanaCrypt0r, Wana Decrypt0r 2.0, WCRY and WNCRY.
Ransomware is a type of malicious software designed to block access to a computer system until money is paid. It is a worm that finds and encrypts data files, then displays a ransom note informing the user and demanding a payment in bitcoin.
